Artistic collaboration is often a risky venture, with outcomes sometimes limited to the equation 1+1=2. However, successful partnerships, such as those of Gilbert and George or the Chapman brothers, show that long-term collaborations can yield rich results. Dutch artist Hans Lemmen and South African-based Roger Ballen, friends for years, are now ready to explore new territory together. Rather than juxtaposing their individual works, they will merge drawing and photography, experimenting in a dialogue that challenges traditional authorship. Their exhibition will feature a new body of work, including a collaborative sculpture and select individual pieces.
