Published to coincide with Roger Ballen’s first major exhibition in France, opening on September 7, 2019, at Halle Saint Pierre, Paris, The World According to Roger Ballen offers a comprehensive overview of the artist's career. Ballen seeks to visually express the human psyche and the hidden forces that shape our identities. This retrospective, co-authored with Colin Rhodes, features a selection of photographs spanning Ballen's career, installations made for the exhibition, and images from his Art Brut collection. Thematically organized, it includes texts by Rhodes and an introduction and interview with Ballen, exploring his significance within modern and contemporary art.
