Call of the Void

Roger Ballen: Call of the Void, part of Museum Tinguely's Danse Macabre series, responds to Jean Tinguely’s Mengele Totentanz. Known for unsettling imagery, Ballen explores the human psyche, questioning identity and existence. The exhibit features two parts: walls covered with his last analogue series, Asylum of the Birds and Roger’s Rats, while the central space holds a shack symbolizing marginal lives. Born in New York in 1950 and based in Johannesburg, Ballen is a key figure in contemporary photography, with works in major collections worldwide.
